The Race
Shore2Shore is a point-to-point 50K and 25K on the full length of the Suffolk County Long Island Greenbelt Trail — one of the best-kept secrets in Northeast trail running.
You start on the north shore at Sunken Meadow, drop through towns and trails, duck under Sunrise Highway, and finish at Heckscher State Park on the south shore. Looks flat on paper. Isn't. The terrain shifts, the road crossings break your rhythm, and the back half finds ways to surprise you. Plenty of people have laid down solid days here — but it's more honest as a season opener than a PR attempt.

Buses & Parking
Parking is at the finish (Heckscher State Park). Buy a bus ticket and we shuttle you to the start line. You're welcome to have someone drop you off at the start instead — we'll check in all participants at the start before race time.
No bibs before the bus ride. Bibs are handed out at the start area, not at bus pickup. Don't worry about it before you board.
Aid Stations
Five fully stocked aid stations, each one more loaded than the last. We use Skratch Labs on course, plus PB&J, snacks, candy, fruit, and whatever else keeps you moving. 50K runners get drop bags at AS3 and the Finish — label them with your name, bib number, and drop location.

Crews & Pacers
All crew and pacer actions are the runner's responsibility. Runners must make sure their crew knows the rules — if they're broken, it can mean a DQ, or course removal of the runner and crew. We'll post a detailed crew-access map with each aid station as race week approaches.
Trail Work — Give Back
We want our races to give back to the trails. Part of your entry is to do one of three things between sign-up and April 1:
- Volunteer at another race or event
- Trail work — at an official Greenbelt work day, a Happily Running volunteer day, or any local trail organization
- Donate $20 or more to the Long Island Greenbelt Trail Conference
Whatever you pick, two hours is the ask. More races run these trails every year — we all benefit, we all pitch in. Log your hours here →
Live Tracking — Race Day
Live tracking will be available on race day. We'll share details by email in the lead-up to the race.
FAQ
Can I change distances?
Yes, up until Wednesday before the race. Go to UltraSignup → Account → Registration History → "Edit" next to your race. Direct link here →
After Wednesday before the race, you can change distances on race day with us.
When can I pick up my bib?
Thursday (3–7 PM) or Friday (11 AM–5 PM) at Smithtown Running Co. You can also pick up race morning at your start location before the bus leaves.
Do you offer drop-downs?
Yes. If you're doing the 50K and need to drop to 25K at the common finish point, you'll get an unofficial 25K time. Please tell the aid station captain so we can account for you on course.
What's the deal with bathrooms on course?
Port-o-potties at major aid stations and the start/finish. A handful of natural "woods opportunities" between — bring your own toilet paper. Please respect the trail and pack out what you pack in.
Can I pick up someone else's bib or packet?
Yes — but you need their printed and signed waiver. We don't accept a copy, a screenshot, or a photo. It has to be the physical signed paper.
What happens if I don't complete my trail work hours?
You have the option of a buy-out: a $20+ donation to the LI Greenbelt. If you do neither — no hours and no donation — you can't run. It's part of your entry. If circumstances make it genuinely impossible, reach out at races@happilyrunning.com and we can work something out.
